Youth Pastor

  • Where did you grow up? Grow up? Ummm… my first years (where I learned to navigate the potty and that dumb child proof gate) happened in New York.
  • How did you become a part of JC? I joined the staff in 2008. Kristen and Bill Wilkinson Facebookedtm me, told me about this crazy group of Jesus’ friends in G-burg that wanted to love youth better, and that was that.
  • Favorite book(s)? Everyone Poops – Taro Gomi, Hurt - Chap Clark, The Bible - God, The Screwtape Letters – C.S. Lewis, Wild At Heart – John Eldridge, my third grade math textbook - (not sure who wrote that one; math was so easy back then), and any thick phone book (for always being able to be used as a booster seat for my kiddos – I am in your debt).
  • What’s on your iPod? The Police, Mutemath, David Crowder Band, Trip Lee, Tower of Power, Salvador, 311, 4th Avenue Jones, LA Symphony, P.O.D., James Taylor, Switchfoot, Pigeon John, a Peter Gabriel tune, Starfield, video of the Giants Superbowl win, and the obligatory Coldplay and U2 songs.
  • Favorite vacation spot? Zimbabwe, Africa; Dominican Republic; my couch.
  • Favorite food(s)? Skyline Chili… that’s really it. (Tied for second: 5 Guys Burgers, my Buffalo Wings, Arepas, Carne Mechada, Monster Drinks, Pad Thai (no peanuts), and Mt. Dew).
  • Favorite pastime(s)? Dropping 3’s on fools who don’t respect the outside game (then icing my knees), Facebook, volleyball, tennis, football, pretending I can really play any of the above sports, playing djembe, almost playing guitar, working out (no, seriously).
  • Favorite movie quote? ‘Save me a piece of that corn for later’ – Nacho Libre (because my 3 year old quotes it). Most lines from Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie – like ‘into the weenie-mobile… weenie man away!!’ or ‘I’m in one of these boxes Joe, find me’). And then there’s this: Napoleon: “Yes, like 50 of 'em. They kept tryin' to attack my cousins. What the heck would you do in a situation like that? Don: What kind of gun did you use? Napoleon: A frickin' 12-gauge. What do you think?”. Classic.
  • Favorite TV show? Sportscenter, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Cheers (it was a show about… never mind).
  • Favorite pro/college sports team(s)?  Knicks, Yankees, Giants, Rangers, Bills, Sabres, Islanders, Jets – in that order. All things NY baby!!
  • Favorite band(s) or music group(s)/artist(s)? See above. I also like Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Jerseyband, Basic, a Latin Jazz DVD called Calle 54, Mat Kearney, Greg Davis, and Michel Camilo.
  • Who’s your hero?  Jesus. My friend Mike (he looks like Jesus). My friend Darin (him too). My dad (he’s with Jesus).
  • What is one unique fact about yourself? I have a fifth arm. Not a third or fourth, just a fifth.
  • If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? I’d go to the Great Wall of China to get ideas for a project I’m working on here in Gaithersburg... you’ll see it, soon enough ;-).
