It's Not Too Late!

Hey There! I know how crazy life can get from week to week so I wanted to send you a quick reminder that it's still not too late to invite a friend, neighbor, co-worker or family member to our Grand Opening Celebration at our new location this Sunday! Just three short weeks ago we moved from our previous location at the Universities at Shady Grove to the Seneca Valley High School in Germantown and it's been a great change. More seats, better venue, great space for our teen and children's... Read More

Last Sunday Was Awesome!

Wow! Last Sunday was an amazing experience at our new location! It was awesome to walk around the building and see what God is doing at Journey's Crossing and how God is using so many of you to reach out and serve others. As I walked down the first hall I entered the children’s ministry area in the school cafeteria and was blown away! Dozens of elementary aged kids were jumping, singing, laughing and learning in one of the coolest settings I’ve ever seen. Creative graphics on a... Read More

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas! -- May your day be merry and bright! In the dark lonely recesses of a stable in the Middle East, it was just another day. The sun rose, the animals were fed and watered, and daily chores were done. It wasn't until the sun had set and the stars came out that everything changed. There, in the darkness, shown one lone star brighter than all the others. It could be seen far and wide. Its light peaked through the cracks in the thatch stable and brought... Read More

What's Your Story?

Last night at midnight, hundreds of thousands of people all around our country area stood in lines at their local theaters to watch the latest Harry Potter movie, some of you included! The question is, "why?" It’s really an easy answer. Regardless of whether you are a fan of Harry Potter or not, it’s because the author, J.K. Rowling, has created a story that captures the heart and imagination of people. There’s adventure, mystery and an assorted group of colorful characters that... Read More

Are You Kidding Me?

When I thought about all that's going on around JC right now that's exactly what I said. Because I just gotta tell you--there are some freakin' amazing things going on! For starters, let me just say that last Sunday’s worship services and festivities at the Farm totally rocked! Hundreds and hundreds of you showed up for church under the big top and it was amaaaazing! The band jammed, God was honored, the food and the fun lasted all afternoon and it all ended with a beautiful... Read More

Do the people you hang out with drain your soul?

Recently in this Milemarker I’ve been tackling a very important topic that doesn’t often get addressed honestly by churches – it’s the topic of spiritual growth. First, I think a lot of us are foggy on what true spiritual growth looks like and so we are tempted to settle for a counterfeit version of authentic spirituality. Secondly, I see a lot of well meaning churches, religious leaders and Christians perpetuating some assumptions and practices that are actually counter-productive to... Read More

Are Your Drying Up Spiritually?

Last week, I started a conversation about our spiritual lives and concluded that just because we are getting older doesn’t mean we are getting better. And I want to continue that conversation over the next several weeks as I debunk some popular spiritual myths that tend to hold us back from experiencing God’s fresh, vibrant power in our lives. You see, I’m really getting frustrated as I watch good people (that I care about) get sucked into a counterfeit Christianity that slowly... Read More

You're getting older but are you getting better?

As I was pulling away from an early breakfast appointment this morning at the local Panera, I came to the stoplight and pulled behind a model of car I hadn’t seen in a long time. It was a mid 1980’s Chevrolet Monte Carlo and it made me chuckle. I remembered one of my friends buying one of these back in 1984 and how cool we thought he was. We envied him as he drove his black Monte Carlo SS with its red pin striping down the road. Now, years later, the car in front of me seemed... Read More

Ready to start a new habit?

Labor Day has officially passed and that means that summer has come to a close and that Fall is on its way! While I love summer and the fun opportunities it brings, I’m also excited to get back into the routine of life and get our schedules and activities back on track. How about you? This morning, a friend and I had breakfast at Panera Bread and he reminded me of how important our church was in helping set the tone and direction of our spiritual lives and the lives of those around...
